As we reflect on the past year, would we have expected the monumental shifts? Natural calamities, reckonings, and wildfires consumed much of the winter, spring, summer, and harvest season. As we turn inward to build outward, reimagining a future of our making, our relationships feel thickened, our burdens reconciled, and our dreams more visible.
2020 celebrates Luna’s 25th anniversary when in 1995, the winery was born at the foot of the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. The Luna team set out to produce cherished Italian varietals like Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese. In this guide, we offer a bit of reprieve and celebration for you and your peers. It comes as a surprise that Sangiovese is the grape used for the well-known Chianti, made in Italy's Tuscany region. With the Italian immigrants' wave in the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, producing Sangiovese in Sonoma and Napa Valley was common. As Cabernet became king, it soon replaced the Sangiovese varietal in the valley.
Twenty-five years later, esteemed winemaker Shawna Miller leads the winery with unique wines sourced from some of the best vineyard sites in Napa Valley, including Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville. With an ongoing passion for experimentation, Luna Vineyards dedicates itself to delivering exceptional quality, superior service, and sustainable commitment to protect and preserve its abundance.
To a year end that is full of love and light,
The Luna Vineyards Team
